SMUSD Independent Study Program

For the 2022-23 school year and thereafter, San Marino Unified will continue to offer traditional independent study program for eligible students.

Students with exceptional needs may participate in traditional independent study if their individualized educational programs (IEP) specifically provide for such instruction.

Written Learning Agreements continue to be a requirement for all students participating in traditional independent study programs for any period of time.

~ For students participating in short-term independent study, 15 days or less or long-term independent study, 16 days or more, written learning agreements must be signed prior to the commencement of independent study.

* Approval for traditional independent study is granted by the school administration.

*Requests for independent study should be directed to the school office / administration.
