The San Marino Unified School District (SMUSD) ranks among the top ten school districts in the state of California. According to the recently released 2023 Niche School District Rankings report, San Marino is not only one of the highest regarded school districts in the state but in the country as well. Of the nearly 10,800 school districts across the United States, SMUSD ranks in the top 100 of the Best School Districts in America, which equates to SMUSD being in the top one percent of school districts in the country, state, and Los Angeles Area. Niche also found that SMUSD ranks in the top percentile for “Districts with the Best Teachers in America,” “Best Places to Teach in America,” and the “Safest School Districts in America.” 


“Full credit for these remarkable rankings goes directly to our incredible teachers, staff, students, parents, and our supportive community,” said San Marino Unified Superintendent Dr. Linda de la Torre. “What this community has been able to accomplish despite the challenges of the pandemic is nothing short of inspiring. I’m so proud of everyone and am thrilled that our entire district and community is being given such notable recognition.”

The Niche “Report Card” also gave San Marino high marks with an “A+” in the areas of Academics, Teachers, and College Prep.
