Code of Conduct
CODE OF CONDUCT
Board members will not visit any school site, or district administrator or employee, with the exception of the Superintendent, without prior written approval from the Superintendent or his/her designee. The Superintendent will endeavor to respond within 12 hours. Board members also will not initiate communications with any school employee (via email, text, phone (etc.)), with the exception of the Superintendent, without prior written approval from the Superintendent.
- When seeking approval from the Superintendent, the Board member will identify the subject matter, the school site and the individual with whom the Board member wishes to meet.
- If the subject matter identified by the Board member is better addressed at a Board meeting, as determined in the Superintendent’s discretion, the subject will be addressed at a Board meeting.
Board members may, however, attend any public event which occurs at a school site without prior permission. This includes back to school nights, open houses, and PTA/PTSA meetings.
When engaging with school employees in all contexts, Board members may only shake hands.
If a Board member has a child in school, the Board member and Superintendent will work together to make reasonable accommodations consistent with typical parent-school interactions.
This Code of Conduct is amendable by majority vote of the then current Board.
