San Marino Unified School District is proud to announce that Michelle Cota has been named the next Principal of Henry E. Huntington Middle School. The San Marino Unified School District Board of Education approved Michelle Cota’s appointment during its May 26, 2026, Board Meeting.
Cota brings more than 15 years of experience in education, including over a decade of dedicated service to the San Marino Unified School District. She currently serves as Assistant Principal at Huntington Middle School, a role she has held since 2023. Prior to joining the school’s administrative team, Ms. Cota was an English teacher and later Department Chair at San Marino High School. Since 2024, she has also served as Principal of the San Marino Summer Academy, supporting students in grades TK–7.
“ I am honored to continue working with the SMUSD community and grateful for the privilege of serving as Huntington Middle School’s Principal. I look forward to all we will continue to achieve together,” said Cota
Cota earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama from the University of California, Irvine, and a Master of Education degree with an emphasis in Curriculum and Instruction from California State University, Bakersfield. She also holds both her English Teaching Credential and Administrative Services Credential from the University of California, Irvine.
San Marino Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Linda de la Torre praised Ms. Cota’s leadership experience and strong connection to the Huntington Middle School community.
“With her strong educational background in curriculum and instruction, deep institutional knowledge, and unwavering commitment to our unique community, Michelle Cota has demonstrated the ability to effectively lead and implement the major initiatives currently underway at Huntington Middle School,” said Dr. de la Torre.
Michelle Cota will officially assume the role of Principal on July 1, 2026. The Assistant Principal position at Huntington Middle School will be filled in the coming weeks.
