On November 5, 2024, San Marino voters approved Measure M with over 71% support, providing $200 million to ensure safe, modern educational facilities for all students.
The San Marino Unified School District (SMUSD) is now accepting applications for its Bond Oversight Committee (BOC). This committee ensures transparency and accountability in the use of Measure M funds, monitors expenditures, and reports on progress to the public. The committee is governed by SMUSD Board Bylaw 9130: Board Committees and SMUSD Administrative Regulation 7214: General Obligation Bonds.
Committee Responsibilities
- Inform the public about Measure M expenditures.
- Review spending to ensure funds are used as approved by voters.
- Present an annual report to the Board of Education.
Membership Requirements
The BOC consists of at least seven members, including:
- One member active in the business community
- One member active in a senior citizens’ organization
- One member active in a bona fide taxpayers’ organization (visit https://smusd.info/whatisataxpayersorg to see what is a taxpayers' organization)
- One parent or guardian of a district student
- One parent or guardian active in a parent-teacher organization
- Two or more at-large community members
Committee members serve a two-year term and meet at least once annually, with additional meetings as needed. Meetings are typically held at the SMUSD District Office.
